There are a lot different equipments that appraiser use during the appraisal stage to determine the piece(s) and it's value. We will break down in few sections so it's easy to understand.
The loupe is widely use in the jewellery store and appraisal process to inspect the item. They are small and foldable magnifier. The triplet lens that consists of three cemented lenses and the triplet lens image is corrected for three colors, and gives little or no distortion. 10x magnifying is commonly used and sometimes you can find up to 90x.
